Installation Emotion Etched: Flow
About:
For the Convergence exhibition, Alexandra revisited elements from her graduation installation Emotion Etched: The Feel of Nature, presenting four wallpaper strips as loose, suspended surfaces rather than attaching them fully to the wall. Pinned only at the top, the works were allowed to fall naturally, creating movement and giving visitors the freedom to approach them closely, move around them, and experience the material more directly.
Additional silkscreen layers were printed over the existing wallpaper images, making the compositions more visually complex. Two strips were overprinted with white pigment, while the two based on Emotion Etched: The Feel of Nature IV - Changing Thoughts were layered with pastel blue dots that gather densely toward the centre and gradually disperse outward. From a distance, the different layers merge together, but when viewed closely, individual marks and printing processes begin to reveal themselves.
This act of looking more carefully became part of the meaning of the work. The viewer is invited to slow down and separate the overlapping visual information piece by piece, reflecting the way an overwhelmed mind can feel when many thoughts exist at once. Untangling the image becomes similar to untangling thought: something that requires time, attention, and the willingness to look beneath each layer.
