Alexandra Diana Costea, born in Romania (1997), moved to Trondheim, Norway, in 2024. She is a printmaking artist who has a Master's Degree in Fine Art: Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts ( University of the Arts London) and holds a bachelor's degree in Arts & Textile Design from the National University of Arts, Romania (2019).

Alexandra’s work explores the relationship between nature, memory, and the pressures of contemporary life. Nature is an important part of her practice, both as a source of calm and as a material that carries its own forms, textures, and imperfections. She is interested in the contrast between the restorative qualities of the natural world and the stress, repetition, and disconnection that can come with urban life. Through her work, she looks at how these experiences can affect the way we perceive our surroundings and our own inner states.

Monotype is central to her practice because every print develops as a singular outcome. The process contains an element of uncertainty: even when an image is planned, the final result cannot be completely predicted or recreated in exactly the same way. Alexandra connects this quality to life itself, where choices, experiences, and unexpected events leave traces that cannot always be reversed. Working with gelli plates, she often uses plants and flowers collected directly from nature, while at other times she develops more abstract and collaged monotypes, allowing chance, intuition, and control to continuously shift throughout the process.

Alexandra has a contract with Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder that lets her use the workshops in the building at any time and communicate with the artists in the house. She is a member of Trøndelag Bildende Kunstnere and Norske Billedkunstnere.
