Between Ghosts

Gelli Plate printing with Acrylics

This work is built from ghost prints made through the gelli plate process, using the remaining layer of paint left behind after the first print has been removed. Alexandra is especially drawn to these prints because of their faded and translucent quality, and also because the term “ghost print” itself suggests something delicate, layered, and almost immaterial. By overlapping multiple ghost prints onto one sheet, she allows the forms to build up gradually, creating a surface where traces appear through one another and unexpected relationships emerge. The work reflects her interest in experimentation, transparency, and surprise, showing how even what might first seem secondary or leftover can be transformed into a unique and compelling image.
