Digital collage incorporating original photography and scanned monotype

In this work, the repeated monotype forms create a butterfly like shape that almost completely covers the centre of the photograph. At first, the butterfly can suggest something delicate or positive, but its dark colours, scratches, and uneven marks reveal a more unsettling presence. The work reflects the way anxiety can disguise itself within familiar or comforting thoughts, making it difficult to recognise when a memory is being distorted. It also points to the need to question these thoughts rather than accept them immediately as truth.
