Digital collage incorporating original photography and scanned monotype

In this work, the white flowers and clear blue sky suggest a sense of purity, openness, and calm. The flowing blue monotype moves across the image like water, carrying that same feeling of softness, while the black marks introduce a more unsettling presence within it. Although the monotype covers much of the photograph, it does not only function as an obstruction, it also reflects the way a memory can be reshaped by emotions and outside influences. The work suggests that what first appears disturbing is not always entirely negative, and that even a peaceful memory can become entangled with thoughts that alter how it is perceived.
