The Art of Nature II

Gelli Plate printing with Acrylics

This second composition brings together six plant monotypes, but here the printing process becomes more visibly unpredictable. Some plants appear only partially, while stains, uneven areas, and traces of paint from earlier prints remain on the surface and become part of the final image. Rather than correcting or rejecting these unexpected results, allowing them to stay, embracing the chance and surprise that are central to monotype printing. These accidental transfers and incomplete impressions make each print impossible to repeat exactly, reflecting the interest in allowing an image to develop without knowing beforehand what the final outcome will be.
