The Art of Abstract Printing

Gelli Plate printing with Acrylics

This collage brings together six abstract monotypes created with a gelli plate using everyday materials such as yarn, stencils, and glass containers. Part of the process comes from the satisfaction of looking around the home and discovering that ordinary objects can leave unexpectedly beautiful marks when transferred through print. By layering and overlapping different materials, shapes, and textures, the final image develops through experimentation rather than a fixed plan. The work reflects Alexandra’s interest in chance, surprise, and the possibility of transforming familiar objects into something new through the printing process.
